All the flexibility and efficiency of training by telephone or videoconference

Telephone classes with BTL mean one-to-one tuition with added flexibility. The format makes it an ideal way to learn listening and speaking skills.

Classes by videoconference are online sessions with screen sharing (for document sharing, for example), offering flexibility, structure and lots of interaction. Videoconferencing is particularly well suited to people who work in this way in their day-to-day and/or who don't quite have the intermediate level required for telephone lessons.

These two individual distance training methods offer flexibility and versatility for employees with limited time, busy schedules or who are often on the move. This format is particularly suited to learners wishing to improve their oral expression and comprehension skills, and especially for those who regularly exchange with international contacts. We offer distance learning courses for all language levels. However, for telephone courses, we recommend that learners have at least an intermediate language level.

Which languages are available?

BTL is able to provide this training in over 20 languages, including English and FLE, Spanish, German and Italian.

A few exceptions may apply in the case of Blended Learning courses.

Pedagogical orientation: what is the training objective?

BTL offers two types of training path, depending on your learning objectives and needs:

To consolidate and improve language skills in general, and in cross-disciplinary areas (meetings, e-mails, etc.), choose the pathway " general professional language ,
To aim for progress on a particular theme, specific to your profession, with a third of each course devoted to this topic (e.g. technical vocabulary in finance, law, etc.), choose the pathway " sector-specific language " (available from intermediate language level and up)

What is included in the course content?

The learner's training objective and the outcomes they are looking for determine the type of content that will be covered during the course.

The content is defined by the teacher, taking into account the learner's specific needs as identified during their initial assessment and at their first class, and the context as described by the training department.

Through role-play, e-learning activities, viewing video extracts or drafting professional documents, the teacher facilitates entertaining, interactive exercises to improve mastery of the target language. Oral expression, written expression, oral comprehension and written comprehension are the four key elements of language training, though professional skills such as communication in meetings, negotiation, presentations, etc. are also covered. The teacher also oversees learning consolidation by assigning work to be carried out between sessions.

Videos, podcasts, press articles, professional documents (e-mails, reports), teaching manuals for face-to-face training: numerous resources, as well as e-learning activities in the case of Blended Learning, are offered during our courses. They enable you to work on all your language skills, systematically applying what you learn in your everyday working life. BTL constantly monitors newly published teaching resources and selects innovative, high-quality solutions tailored to individual needs. The teacher provides a wide variety of learning aids, chosen according to the individual's needs.

How long are the different courses on offer?

Various formulas are available, starting from 10 hours for distance learning and 20 hours for face-to-face training.

For Blended Learning courses, we offer a range of formulas that vary in terms of to modality (in-person/distance), language, pedagogical focus, the e-learning time objective and the duration of platform subscription. How are courses organized? Practical information, registration, rates.

How our language courses are organized:

Following registration, each learner has a telephone interview to confirm their objectives, assess their language level and personalize their training. Then, depending on the format chosen, courses can be held remotely, at your company's premises, or at the BTL training center in Paris VIII.

Courses are scheduled either :

On a regular basis over several weeks, between 1h30 and 2h per week for face-to-face teaching or between 30min and 1h per week for distance learning, at a time that suits the learner.
Over a short, intensive period, at a time of year when the learner is more available - e.g. 5 half-days of training in a row.

The BTL planning team works with the learner to define the course dates depending on their availability and preferred frequency.

In the event of unforeseen circumstances, the learner may postpone any scheduled session, provided they respect the cancellation deadline as stipulated at the start of the course.

How to choose between telephone and videoconferencing? Requirements and tips.

Our telephone courses are particularly suitable for those who regularly speak by phone with foreign interlocutors. They are available from intermediate language level upwards.

By contrast, training in videoconferencing is accessible for all levels. It also enables sharing teaching tools live: whiteboard, annotation tools, multimedia file exchange, etc.

Please note that the Blended Learning option with 7Speaking, and the sector-specific orientation, are recommended for intermediate levels only. Please contact us for alternative solutions.

Technical assistance

When it comes to videoconferencing, courses are held on Microsoft Teams by default. However, learners have the option of using another software of their choice by sending an invitation to their teacher.

Technical assistance is provided by a team made up of an expert teacher and a member of staff responsible for administrative and technical support.

This team remains at the disposal of customers and trainees every working day during BTL office opening hours (08:00 to 19:00 French time), and answers any questions they may have by telephone or e-mail as quickly as possible.
